Sea freight LCL consolidations – efficient import and export on global markets
2026-03-10

Sea freight enables efficient handling of global supply chains – regardless of direction. However, when shipment volumes are smaller, there is no need to fill an entire container. In such cases, less-than-container-load (LCL) sea freight is the optimal solution.
Through shipment consolidation, smaller cargo volumes are combined into a shared container, while transport costs are calculated only for the space actually used. This results in lower costs, greater shipping flexibility, and no need to wait until a full container load is ready.
Benefits of LCL sea freight
- Lower transport costs
You only pay for the space actually used in the container, without the need to reserve a full FCL container. - Greater shipping flexibility
No need to wait for full shipment volumes – cargo can be dispatched exactly when it is ready. - Regular and predictable deliveries
Fixed LCL services and regular sailings make it easier to plan deliveries and sales. - Better inventory management
Smaller and more frequent shipments reduce inventory levels and limit capital tied up in stock. - Comprehensive end-to-end service
A single logistics operator manages the entire process: cargo pickup, consolidation, sea transport, customs clearance and final distribution. - Simplified operational handling
One point of contact, consistent communication and a single documentation set reduce the workload on the client’s operational teams. - Greater control and supply chain stability
A centrally managed process ensures better supply chain visibility and reduces the risk of delays.
