Rohlig SUUS Logistics, the largest Polish logistics operator, has opened a second bonded warehouse in Szczecin. The investment increases SUUS' capabilities in handling exported and imported goods for companies operating on the Polish market as well as in Scandinavia or Western Europe. The bonded warehouse includes the possibility of postponing the payment of duties and taxes until the products are placed on the market.

A new customs warehouse was opened at SUUS's Szczecin branch at 22A Lubczyńska St., where a temporary storage facility and a recognition area are also in operation. The same range of customs services is also provided by the operator at its second location in Szczecin, at 1 Kablowa Street.

- What are the benefits of a customs warehouse? Goods can be stored there for an indefinite period of time, which facilitates efficient inventory management and cash flow optimization, among others, by deferring the payment of customs duties, excise duties and VAT until the products are put on sale, explains Mirosław Kłósek, Customs Product Director, Rohlig SUUS Logistics.

With the re-export procedure, storing goods in a bonded warehouse also makes it possible to avoid customs duties and taxes, as well as to carry out corrective actions, for example if the customs office detains the goods. In the bonded warehouse, the stored goods can also be completed with the necessary markings or instructions, as well as VAS services such as co-packing, banding or labelling.

- This is our second customs warehouse in Szczecin and the twelfth in the country. We regularly increase our operational capacities in this area in order to be able to support our customers even more effectively in their international, non-EU activities. This is important both for those who are just starting their overseas operations and for those who are increasing the scale of their exports and imports. One operator managing the entire supply chain - from transport, through customs handling, to warehousing - saves time and costs,’ adds Mirosław Kłósek.

SUUS also has 12 temporary storage warehouses in Poland, 14 customs agencies and more than 60 recognized customs clearance sites. The operator performs 200,000 customs clearances of road, sea, air and rail shipments annually.

Szczecin as an international logistics hub

- We are observing a process of dynamic development of Western Pomerania as an important European logistics hub. This is influenced by its strategic geographical location, allowing it to effectively serve Poland, Scandinavia or Germany, as well as modern road infrastructure and the development of the port in Świnoujście, which can handle streams of goods from all over the world. What's more, the region is attracting foreign investment, and local companies are becoming increasingly bold in their international involvement, exporting and importing goods. Along with this, there is a growing demand for comprehensive logistics - managing the import of raw materials or components, warehousing, distribution of completed products, as well as customs services,’ explains Marcin Grzelak, Regional Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics.

In addition to the above-mentioned customs area, SUUS in the region provides comprehensive warehouse logistics solutions, including value-added services (e.g. co-packing), transshipments, container consolidation and transport - by road, sea, rail, air or intermodal. It prioritises automation in its operations, including running processes based on modern lift racks. In total, the company manages over 12,000 m² of operational space in its logistics centres in the West Pomeranian region. A distinctive feature of the operator are also the daily groupage road connections to Sweden and Norway, operated by a local branch.
