Partnership initiative of SUUS and Grupa Kęty S.A. – low-emission transport of aluminium profiles with an electric truck
2025-08-05

Rohlig SUUS Logistics has launched a daily delivery service for aluminium profiles on behalf of Grupa Kęty S.A., operating between the company’s production facilities in Kęty and Bielsko-Biała. The transport is carried out using an electric truck – the eActros 300. This solution enables a 53% reduction in CO₂ emissions while maintaining full operational efficiency. The project aligns with the ESG strategies of both SUUS and Grupa Kęty S.A.
SUUS is responsible for transporting aluminium profiles produced and stored at the Kęty plant to the Aluprof aluminium systems factory in Bielsko-Biała. Both locations are situated in southern Poland and are 22 km apart. The operation uses an eActros 300 electric truck with a fixed body and a trailer – a so-called tandem set – adapted for transporting long loads. This is the first project of its kind on the Polish market. The solution ensures both efficiency and lower emissions in the transport of aluminium products up to 7 metres in length.
Fabian Szmurło, Domestic FTL Product Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics, says: "A joint analysis of Grupa Kęty’s logistics processes and the tests we conducted confirmed that with regular shuttle routes, stable volumes, and an appropriate distance between the warehouse and the factory, the implementation of an electric truck can be both effective and efficient. This approach enables smooth operations while reducing CO₂ emissions by 53%." He adds: "Given the still high costs and the existing infrastructure and technology limitations, the cornerstone of successful transport electrification projects is close and long-term cooperation among all supply chain stakeholders – including both the logistics operator and the customer."
Łukasz Dudziak, Head of Logistics SWW at Grupa Kęty S.A., says: "Our project is based on three pillars: ECOLOGY, EFFICIENCY, and INNOVATION. Ecology – because the transport is carried out with a low-emission vehicle, and the aluminium profiles used for the truck’s body were manufactured by Grupa Kęty largely from recycled materials. Efficiency – because Grupa Kęty aims to deliver nearly 80% of its orders, equating to over 16,000 tonnes of aluminium profiles annually, to Aluprof Bielsko-Biała. Innovation – as this is the first project in Poland using an electric tandem truck."
He emphasises: "An additional element of the project is the adaptation of the logistics network based on delivery time windows, supported by the use of telematics – including GPS data and the analysis of energy consumption and regeneration while driving. This allows us to build even higher standards for the logistics of the future." Operational efficiency is further supported by Grupa Kęty S.A.’s investment in a high-power 150 kW charging station, which enables a full battery recharge in approximately 2.5 hours.
Grupa Kęty S.A. is committed to environmental responsibility not only in transport, but also throughout the production process – by recovering aluminium, increasing the use of recycled materials in profile manufacturing, and sourcing electricity from its own photovoltaic installation.
Advancing towards sustainable development
SUUS’s initiatives support the development of low-emission logistics for industry and contribute significantly to reducing the carbon footprint of transport. The deployment of an electric truck for aluminium profile transport on behalf of Grupa Kęty S.A. is yet another decarbonisation initiative by the operator, in line with its ESG strategy and Science Based Targets (SBTi).
Moreover, this is not the only area of collaboration between the companies in low-emission logistics. SUUS also provides intermodal transport services for Grupa Kęty S.A., incl. to international customers.
The operator offers a broad range of solutions for reducing emissions across the supply chain – including the use of HVO100 biofuel in road transport and the implementation of electric vehicles for last-mile pallet deliveries, carried out by SUUS EXPERT, a company within the capital group.
