Efficient full truckload (FTL) ADR transport from Poland to Ireland
2026-03-18

Transporting non-standard goods such as ADR cargo requires precisely planned and tailored logistics processes. In one of the projects we manage, we are responsible for regular full truckload (FTL) shipments of polymer pellets from Poland to Ireland — a flammable product that is also highly sensitive to moisture. Below is an overview of how such a service is structured and executed in practice.
Cargo profile and risk management
The cargo handled consists of polymer pellets classified as ADR goods, meaning hazardous goods under transport regulations. The material is flammable and at the same time extremely susceptible to moisture. Even short-term exposure to humidity could deteriorate product quality and ultimately result in the loss of the entire shipment. Such cargo characteristics require carefully selected transport solutions and full control over transport conditions at every stage of the route.
Efficient planning of the ADR route and ferry crossing
One of the key operational challenges was organizing the ferry crossing. Due to the ADR classification of the cargo, transport via passenger ferries was not permitted — only dedicated freight ferries meeting specific safety requirements could be used. The entire service has been designed to ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient transit:
- road transport from Poland to the port of Rotterdam,
- shipment loaded onto a freight ferry operating the connection to Ireland,
- careful selection of the appropriate ferry service to maintain operational continuity and business efficiency for the client.
Operational coordination and ADR safety
Project execution is based on close cooperation with a network of verified carriers whose drivers hold the required ADR certifications. Continuous coordination of the entire process — both with transport partners and ferry operators — is equally important. This approach ensures operational continuity, minimizes the risk of delays, and guarantees a high level of cargo safety throughout the route.
