2024-09-05
Rohlig SUUS Logistics, Polish largest operator, is opening a modern logistics centre in Lodz, tripling its operational capacity compared to the previous location. The new investment combines the functions of a logistics warehouse and a cross-dock terminal. The facility offers tailor-made solutions for companies across a range of industries, including a comprehensive customs service, a range of value-added services, infrastructure for the storage of ADR goods, international transport and domestic distribution.
The SUUS logistics centre with an area of over 30,000 m² is located at 65F Nowy Józefów Street in Lodz, within Panattoni Park Lodz West II. The state-of-the-art facility comprises a 21,000 m² logistics warehouse with a storage capacity of 26,000 pallet spaces, a 9,200 m² cross-dock terminal for fast and efficient transhipment of goods, and 3,000 m² of office space. The complex has 55 docks, allowing it to handle 100 line cars and 180 distribution vehicles per day. Currently, with warehouses in Piotrków Trybunalski and Konstantynow Lodzki, the operator has more than 50 000 m² of operational space in the region. The warehouse in Lodz is Rohlig SUUS Logistics' fifth investment in Europe in the last 12 months, following the opening of facilities in Brno, Bratislava, Budapest and Gliwice.
Strategic point for European business
Lodz region is one of the most attractive logistics centres not only nationally but also in Europe. Due to its strategic location and well-developed transport infrastructure, both by road, intermodal and air, our presence there is of great importance to us. This is also confirmed by the growing customer interest in the area. This opportunity has already been recognised by many companies from various industries, including white goods, pharmaceuticals and textiles, locating production facilities or distribution centres in the region. I am sure that our new logistics centre in Lodz will become a strategic point on the map of European as well as global supply chains,’ says Adam Galek, Member of the Board of Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
The new warehouse is located on the S14 expressway, which connects to the S8 route and the A2 motorway. This strategic location enables efficient transport of goods both within Poland and abroad, including to Western and Central Europe. In addition, thanks to the region's modern intermodal infrastructure - rail lines or a modern transshipment terminal - and the Lodz airport, which is growing in cargo transport, SUUS's logistics complex can also serve as a hub in international supply chains.
At the Lodz branch SUUS also provides comprehensive support in the area of warehouse logistics. At this location, there is a customs agency with a bonded warehouse, a temporary storage warehouse and a separate area for value-added services such as banding, labelling or co-packing. Customers can also take advantage of the storage of ADR goods. The facility is IFS-certified for food storage, making it attractive to the food industry. In addition, the new investment enables the development of a pallet delivery service for, among other things, white and brown goods and furniture in the so-called last mile. SUUS also offers additional services in this area, such as lifting and assembly.
Our logistics centre offers tailor-made solutions for every type of business, both for companies operating locally and internationally. The cross-dock terminal enables the efficient handling of goods and distribution. In the area of contract logistics, customers can benefit, among other things, from a wide range of value-added services. Comprehensive customs support is also important, enabling efficient export and import of goods from outside the EU. We have, for example, a recognised location where a company can make a customs declaration under a simplified procedure without having to transport the cargo to the office,’ says Marek Wawrzyńczak, director of the Rohlig SUUS Logistics branch in Lodz. - The increased operational capacity of the new location will require additional human resources, and our offer, which includes a modern, employee-friendly office, will increase our competitiveness on the local labour market, he adds.
Innovative solutions for employees and the climate
The investment is currently in the process of being BREEAM certified at Excellent level, confirming that its design has been developed in accordance with sustainable principles and that the building itself is both employee and environmentally friendly. Photovoltaic panels and skylights have been installed on the roof of the facility to provide access to natural light - both in the warehouse and terminal areas. Four chargers for electric cars and one for trucks have been placed within the complex. In addition, the location has been equipped with an intelligent utility management system, and the outdoor areas have been landscaped with greenery and planted with flower meadows. The office part, designed in the style of Office of the Future, offers employees a modern and comfortable work space. The branch will also feature a chillout room with games consoles or a relaxation area in the outdoor areas. The comfort of drivers has also been taken care of by creating a special area equipped with a kitchen, showers and a washing machine.
Operations at the new SUUS facility will start in the first week of October. An additional 40-50 new employees will be employed at the new location, and further team expansions are planned, depending on the potential of ongoing projects.
