Rohlig SUUS Logistics, Poland's largest logistics operator, has opened a customs warehouse and a temporary storage warehouse at its branch in Kokotów near Kraków. The new investment enables comprehensive handling of imported and exported goods for companies from Małopolska, as well as from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. This is SUUS' 11th customs warehouse and 12th temporary storage warehouse in Poland.

The new solution, with an area of just under 11,000 m², is located at the Krakow branch, which combines the functions of a logistics warehouse and a cross-dock terminal. In addition to the new customs offer, SUUS provides the region with, among other things, national and international road transport, a place recognised for the presentation of goods to customs and short-term temporary storage, and value-added services such as co-packing or labelling. In addition, it offers storage of goods - now also pre-clearance goods - both in a block system and in standard high-bay and VNA high-bay racks. The facility also meets all requirements to handle food products.

- The bonded warehouse allows the deferral of customs duties and excise and VAT taxes until the removal of the goods. This allows entrepreneurs to effectively manage their liquidity and inventories. In the case of re-exportation, it also allows for non-payment of customs duties and other tax duties, as well as a corrective procedure, e.g. if the goods are detained by customs. What is more, in a customs warehouse we can also label or bander the products, explains Mirosław Kłósek, Customs Services Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics. - Storage in a temporary warehouse, on the other hand, is usually used when goods are waiting for customs clearance and need to be supplemented with documents. In contrast to a customs warehouse, this option is time-limited,’ he adds.

The Krakow logistics centre is home to the operator's 11th customs warehouse and 12th temporary storage warehouse in Poland. This is the third investment in the customs area implemented recently, following projects at the Sosnowiec and Białystok branches. In addition, SUUS has 14 customs agency branches and more than 60 recognised locations. The company performs 200,000 customs clearances of road, sea, air and rail shipments annually.

Małopolska is a global logistics gateway for the CEE region or the Balkans

- Business in Małopolska is developing dynamically. This applies, for example, to the metallurgical, technological or window and door carpentry industries. Companies from this region often operate globally - on markets in the USA or Asia. They both import raw materials and production materials and export finished products. Therefore, comprehensive logistic support, including customs services, is key to their effective expansion,’ says Rafał Małek, Regional Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics. - Małopolska is also a natural gateway to southern Europe, e.g. to other countries in the CEE region or to the Balkans. Therefore, our logistics centre can also be an important element in the global chains of companies from these countries,’ he adds.

SUUS's Kraków branch is located in a strategic point in Małopolska, with good access to the S7 motorway and the A4 motorway, which allow efficient transport of goods within Poland and to other countries. Balice Airport is also important in the region for handling global transport, providing direct connections to, among others, the USA (Chicago and New York) and Dubai, which is one of the main hubs on the South Asia-Europe line.
