SUUS continues to expand in Podlasie. The operator has opened a customs warehouse and a temporary storage facility

Rohlig SUUS Logistics has launched a customs warehouse and a temporary storage warehouse at its branch in Choroszcz near Białystok. This new investment significantly enhances the operator’s capabilities in managing the logistics of import and export goods for companies in Podlasie and the Baltic countries. Among other benefits, it enables effective inventory management and allows businesses to defer customs duties and tax payments until their products enter the market.
The new facilities, covering a total area of approximately 3,000 sq. m, are part of a modern logistics center that opened in January 2023. Currently, it is the only facility in the region that—thanks to high-bay racking systems—offers both storage and customs handling for large-sized goods. In addition to this location, Poland’s largest logistics operator also has a second branch in the province. In Białystok, there is a logistics warehouse and a cross-dock terminal. A customs agency is also based there, along with another temporary storage warehouse. Altogether, SUUS manages an operational area of 7,300 sq. m in Podlasie.
"We have been present in Podlasie for 14 years, and each year, we see how companies in this region continue to grow—not only locally but also in international markets. Many import raw materials or products for production, as well as finished goods for distribution, from countries such as China and India. One of the key drivers of business development on a global scale is comprehensive logistics support, including customs services," explains Krzysztof Gąsiewski, Regional Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics. "Thanks to its strategic location and well-developed transport infrastructure, including the Via Carpatia route, Białystok serves as an excellent logistics gateway to Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. At SUUS, we provide regular groupage road transport connections from our Białystok branch in this direction. Our new investment is also a response to the needs of companies operating in the Baltic markets that import and export goods via Poland," he adds.
The customs warehouse and temporary storage warehouse complement SUUS’s comprehensive logistics offering in Podlasie. The operator also provides storage, transshipment, order fulfillment, deconsolidation of sea and rail containers, e-commerce services, and a wide range of value-added services such as banding, creating promotional sets, and labeling. Additionally, SUUS ensures the distribution of goods across Poland and to the Baltic countries.
Benefits of the new customs solutions in Podlasie
"Goods can be stored in a customs warehouse indefinitely, allowing our customers to effectively manage inventory and financial liquidity. This includes deferring customs duties, excise taxes, and VAT payments until the products are introduced to the market. Moreover, in a customs warehouse, we can add necessary markings or instructions required for specific markets and perform various value-added services such as packaging, banding, and labeling. On the other hand, storage in a temporary storage warehouse is time-limited and does not permit any modifications to the products. This solution is primarily used when goods are awaiting customs clearance and require the completion of necessary documentation," explains Mirosław Kłósek, Customs Product Director at Rohlig SUUS Logistics.
The investment in Podlasie marks SUUS’ 10th customs warehouse and 11th temporary storage warehouse. Additionally, the operator manages 14 customs agencies and over 60 recognized locations.
