New, larger cross-dock warehouse in Lublin
2023-04-03
Rohlig Suus Logistics, the largest comprehensive logistics operator in Poland, is relocating its branch in Lublin while increasing its operational capacity in the region by 30%. The new investment is a cross-dock warehouse, which will optimize costs associated with the delivery of goods to recipients on the so-called 'last mile.'
The new facility, located at ul. Józefa Franczaka 'Lalka' 4, serves as both a logistics warehouse and a modern transshipment terminal, enabling the quick and efficient reloading of goods. This is part of the company’s development strategy, including pallet deliveries on the so-called last mile. This year, Rohlig Suus Logistics acquired Expert, a company specializing in this type of service, which also has a branch in Lublin. In the region, Suus is also expanding additional services such as picking, labeling, banding, and assembling product sets. The company’s offerings target clients in industries including food, furniture, industrial chemicals, automotive, and paper.
‘We have been present in the Lublin Voivodeship for 12 years, and each year we see increasing interest from entrepreneurs in this region. Our new warehouse is located in the Special Economic Zone, Euro Park Mielec, which is crossed by the main communication routes connecting northern and southern Europe, as well as east and west. We believe that the Lublin region, with its scientific and research base, access to a qualified workforce, and excellent location, has the potential to become a strategic hub for global supply chains in the coming years, including a key logistics point for the reconstruction of Ukraine,’ says Adam Galek, Member of the Management Board of Rohlig Suus Logistics.
‘By combining the functions of a transshipment terminal and a logistics warehouse, we are able to streamline logistics processes,’ says Krystian Zakrzewski, Director of the Rohlig Suus Logistics branch in Lublin. ‘Our new warehouse can accommodate 40 vehicles at once, significantly increasing the branch's efficiency. Importantly, we are expanding our administrative space nearly fivefold and focusing on modern work organization and office design in line with the concept of the "Office of the Future." We believe that a welcoming and open office environment will enhance our competitiveness in the Lublin labor market,’ he adds. The building also includes a designated rest area for drivers.
Currently, the new warehouse is undergoing BREEAM certification, which confirms that its design adheres to sustainable development principles and that it is both employee- and environmentally-friendly. Solar collectors on the roof will power the office and warehouse, helping to reduce energy costs. Additionally, charging stations for electric vehicles are available in front of the facility. Insect boxes have been installed, and plans are in place to create a flower meadow.
Recently, the Polish logistics operator also opened a new warehouse in the capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. All new facilities are built to meet the highest ecological standards and align with the 'Office of the Future' concept.
