Another step in international expansion - Rohlig Suus Logistics opens the company in Romania
Rohlig Suus Logistics founded a new company in the Romanian capital Bucharest. It is, apart from Poland, one of the markets with the greatest economic potential in Central and Eastern Europe. The company in Romania is the fifth foreign operator, after Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, to be launched in the last two years alone.
The new company in Bucharest offers logistics services related to rail, sea and air transport. It also plans to develop in road transport. The key sectors to which Rohlig Suus Logistics addresses its offer include the automotive, IT, retail, pharmaceutical and food sectors.
Romania is one of the countries with the fastest growing GDP in the European Union. It ranked second in this respect in the last quarter of 2019 and, in the first quarter of 2020, in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic, it was one of the few countries to maintain economic growth. The dynamically developing market is also showing increasing demand for logistics services. Over the last three years, the total warehouse space in this country has increased by almost half, reaching 4.7 million sq m at the end of June this year. According to the estimates of the consulting company Colliers International, this segment may reach even 8 million sq m in the coming years. By the end of this year alone, another 300,000 sq m of space is expected to be delivered.
Even in times of the coronavirus pandemic, we do not stop development and consistently pursue a strategy of international expansion. It is based on the desire to be ever closer to our customers. Bucharest is another step after Prague, Bratislava, Budapest or Slovenian Koper. Our decisions to enter the Romanian market are based primarily on in-depth observation and analysis over many years. We have high hopes for it because it is the largest economy in the CEE region after Poland, where we want to provide comprehensive services to our clients, says Piotr Iwo Chmielewski, Member of the Board of Rohlig Suus Logistics, adding that Polish companies in the Romanian market are perceived very positively. This is due to the fact that the Polish economic reform is considered to be very smoothly implemented there and it is a kind of model. We hope that our Polish lineage and international network will be a recipe for success, stresses Piotr Iwo Chmielewski.
