Rohlig Suus Logistics, one of Poland’s largest logistics companies, has opened another office in Central and Eastern Europe. Slovakia represents yet another location right behind the new office in Slovenia’s Koper. The new office, situated at the Bratislava airport, will help streamline customer service in the region. 

The Slovak logistics market is worth in excess of EUR 5 billion. It is distinctly fragmented and features over 800 forwarders of which the largest six control a mere 9% share of the total market. Nevertheless, since 2015, the cargo transportation industry has been growing steadily at a rate of 2%-5%.

- By opening the new branch, we’re continuing to build our position in the region, first by growing sea and air freight services, FTL and rail freight services. In doing this, we are aiming to be everywhere our customers need us. Increasingly more, multinationals as well as our Polish customers view Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary as one market – says Tadeusz Chmielewski, Chairman of the Board at ROHLIG SUUS Logistics.

Road freight continues to be the dominant mode of transport in Slovakia, but air freight is expanding the fastest with growth rates of 21% in 2017, 9% in 2018 and 13% in the first half of 2019. E-commerce, the fastest growing market segment, is currently the most important. This market segment, along with the automotive and machine industries, represents the greatest growth opportunity for Rohlig Suus Logistics and the company is aiming to become one of the largest logistics operators in the movement of goods from Asia in the upcoming years.

This new Rohlig Suus Logistics office is the seventh international location the company has opened in the past two years. Presently, the company operates three offices in the Czech Republic, and one office in Russia, Slovenia and Hungary, respectively.
